DESIGNATIONS OF ORIGIN OF THE ITALIAN WINES:
PRODUCTION AREAS

These are the maps of the Italian regions that illustrate the Designation of Origin of Italian Wines, the production areas and a list of the production varieties of grapes. Some information is simplified for easier use.

For example, references to particular kind of wine (such as passito, liqueur, late harvest, etc.) have been included in the category related to their color, and spumanti and sparkling wines are gathered into a single category. Further information on simplifications is indicated in the notes of each chart.

The indication of the variety name on the label (allowed by the production disciplinary) is possible only if the vine is used at least at 85%. All the data present in this publication have been extracted from the production disciplinaries of the Designation of Origin.
